Cascii
v1.0.4
This is one of the few well-equipped ASCII diagram builders freely available on the internet.
It stresses portability, simplicity, and immediateness. ASCII diagrams are
the best balance between pen to paper and advanced graphical builders, while also allowing
users to present visual information in places that can
only render text (such as in code, consoles, primitive displays, and so on).
By using text, you avoid the need for file formats, attaching documents and over-styled distractions.
FAQ
ASCII or Unicode?
Unicode is prettier but less reliable. Depending on where it's used,
it could display in unexpected ways. Here, both modes try their best
to use the most appropriate characters, but each mode does not promise
absolute ASCII or Unicode. You can change mode in Settings.
How do I export my drawing?
Simply select Export on the top menu, and your drawing
will be copied to your clipboard. If using the hosted version, a short link will be included
so that you / others can edit the drawing later. It's recommended
you keep this short link to avoid loosing the ability to find / edit it later.
Exported drawings are immutable; editing via a short link is a copy of the original.
Remember, the view in which you paste the drawing must use a fixed-width font,
and have a width greater than what you've drawn or not wrap text.
Otherwise you'll see a mess.
What is Base64 I/O?
If you want to simply save your drawings without using the online version (short links and user accounts),
you can export it as Base64, save that anywhere, and import it later so that Cascii can remember your
drawing's state.
