Inclusive Design: The Big Picture Online Workshop on September 3

For many people, accessibility and inclusive design mean the same thing.

But did you know accessibility is only one component of inclusive design?

Learn how to connect the dots between the different disciplines of inclusive design, including accessibility, at Knowbility’s online Inclusive Design: The Big Picture workshop on September 3, 2020.

In the half-day interactive workshop, Eric Eggert, Tech Team Lead and Web Accessibility Expert at Knowbility, will:

  • Demystify inclusive design
  • Teach attendees how to integrate it in their daily work
  • Share resources for creating inclusive design patterns

Read on to learn more about the workshop.

Inclusive Design: The Big Picture Workshop

Inclusive design encompasses a wide range of areas, including culture, identity, language, age, and gender to name a few.

When you create a product or service using an inclusive design approach, you welcome

all people from different and intersectional backgrounds to use your products and services in ways that are meaningful to them, while including diverse individuals throughout the research and design process.

The online workshop is useful for everyone who wants to develop an inclusive mindset as well as people working in the accessibility field or related fields.

No prerequisites to attend the workshop.

From the workshop description, you’ll learn:

  • Why an all-encompassing inclusive design philosophy is crucial
  • How people with disabilities access digital and non-digital spaces and what they expect
  • How using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.x can offer best practice results for your work
  • How you can enable people to use your products and services that works for them

as Eggert highlights design principles to help you plan, implement, and evaluate inclusive design in your work.

Summary

Learn more about inclusive design and how to incorporate it into your work at the half-day workshop. I like that Eggert’s workshop is interactive and will include several Q&A breaks.

I’ve attended several Knowbility online workshops and always walk away with new knowledge I can apply immediately to my work projects. I’m attending the workshop, I hope you’ll join me!
