DOM manipulation has been a key aspect of web development since the early days of jQuery at least. Nowadays, many web developers manipulate the DOM via built-in browser methods or via the “virtual DOM” in frameworks like React. In either case, having a clear understanding of what the DOM is, how browsers render it and how it is manipulated is critical for frontend web development. In this session, Edidiong Asikpo will teach you everything you need to know to feel comfortable with the DOM.

As a web developer, the Document Object Model (DOM) is one of the most important concepts worth understanding. In this talk, Edidiong will introduce the audience to the DOM, it’s tree-like structure, and how to target and manipulate the DOM with JavaScript.
